2019 Street Overlay Project

The purpose of the 2019 Street Overlay Project is to improve 4th Street, from Greeley Avenue to Telep Avenue, as well as Jay Avenue, from Greeley Avenue to 6th Street. Crews also fully reconstructed Hawthorne Ct., from Woodbine to the south end of the cul-de-sac.

Initially slated to begin in June, the project experienced a set-back early on when the contractor discovered unforeseen problems regarding poor structural condition of the existing roadway. In order to properly complete the job to the Town’s standards, additional sub-grade work had to be completed, followed by final paving.

Town Council approved the repair option presented at the August 5th meeting, and the project resumed in late August, with full completion on September 3. The Town would not compromise the quality of this project just to save time. It was in the Town’s best interest and the interest of the tax payers to build this road properly. The Town apologizes for an inconvenience this may have caused, but your patience has been very much appreciated.

Specific streets impacted include:

  • N 7th app (913 N 7th Pl) from Jay Ave. to N 7th St.

  • N 7th St. (942 N 7th St) from Jay Ave. to N Greeley Ave.

  • Jay Ave. (716 Jay Ave.) from Greeley Ave. to N 6th St.

  • N 4th St. (1218 N 4th St.) from Telep Ave. to N Greeley Ave.
